SMART Traps & Sensors
Anticimex is a Swedish pest control company which has developed a series of high-tech, intelligent, electronic rodent & insect traps.
The products monitor for rodents and/or insects using infrared & motion sensors which track their activity and uses no-toxic, eco-friendly bait.
My studio was hired to design the series of SMART digital pest and insect monitoring devices for the private sector. At present the series consist of 6 different products.
The goal with the designs has been to create a simple design language that would fit discreetly into any home environment. At the same time, I was to ensure a common design language between all the products in the series.
The studio work consisted of:
- Concept generation
- Product design
- 3D modeling & visualization
- Collaboration with mechanical engineers
The SMART Connect Mini communicates wirelessly via a mesh network with all traps and sensor that are connected to the system. Information from each trap or sensor is collected and sent to the pest control company for analysis. The unit is designed so that it can sit on a shelf or table or be mounted on a wall.
The SMART Eye Mini which is water and dust-proof is designed to be placed or mounted in attics, under sinks, in crawlspaces or anywhere there may be rodents or other pests.
The SMART Eye Mini design enables it to stand vertically on any flat surface or fastened to building elements using standard zip ties.
The motion detector informs the SMART Connect Mini that there is rodent activity, and this information is sent to your pest control company.
The SMART Snap is an intelligent mouse trap that can report at what time and where a mouse has been terminated. The cover ensures that the client never sees the mouse after it has been terminated and the trap uses non-toxic eco-friendly bait.
The SMART Catch Mini is an intelligent rat trap that can report at what time and where a rat has been terminated. The rat is lured into a tunnel between the wall and the trap by non-toxic eco-friendly bait. Having been terminated, the information is sent to your pest control company, and they will come and remove the rat from the trap.
The SMART Sense Mini draws Cockroach's or Moth's to it using non-toxic pheromones and when the insects enter the trap, they get stuck to a glue board.
The SMART Sense Mini Cockroach & Moth trap is designed so that it can be placed on any flat surface or mounted on vertical surfaces. The glue board can be easily replaced by pulling the drawer out and unsnapping glue paper.
The SMART Clima can detect water leaks on any horizontal surface and measure humidity in the air. The product can be placed on any flat surface. Liquid sensors on the bottom of the unit can detect any water that flows under it and send a warning. Or the SMART Clima can be mounted on a vertical surface and using a special Lyric cable sensor plugged into it, can detect water up to 1.2 meters away from the SMART Clima unit.
